How do I become a member of the YMCA?

Visit a YMCA branch for a tour any time we're open.  Or you can become a member online

For detailed join fee and rate information and an introduction to all of our 12 branches, go to our home page and select a branch in the drop-down menu.

As a new member, you will have a join fee and prorated dues for the first month to get started.  The YMCA does not require a contract and encourages members to pay by credit card or bank draft.

Choose from community-wide membership that provide the use of all YMCA branches including Bullitt County, Oldham County and Southern Indiana.  Many branches offer rates specific to their branch.

Adult, family, youth and senior memberships are available.  We are committed to membership for all - rates that are based on your household income.  And, no one is turned away due to an inability to pay - thanks to the Spirit Program.

Why join the Y?

The YMCA of Greater Louisville is a community that offers more than you expect.  Our focus is on building a relationship to support you in reaching your goals - whether to lose weight, improve your health, change your lifestyle, spend more time with your family, make new friends...  You'll find state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, group fitness activities, swimming, rock-climbing, gyms, and more programs for youth than you can name.

And, the YMCA is a non-profit community service organization that provides support throughout the Greater Louisville area through numerous outreach programs including YMCA Safe Place Services, YMCA Youth and Black Achievers, teen and youth programs. Through our Childcare Enrichment Program with JCPS, child care and preschools, we serve as the largest provider of child care in Kentucky.

Our commitment to you is what makes the YMCA the place where you belong!

I'm moving to Louisville.  How do I transfer my YMCA membership to the Greater Louisville Association?

You must join the YMCA of Greater Louisville within 30 days. Please bring a letter from your YMCA to the YMCA of Greater Louisville branch of your choice. The letter must state the following:

  • You were a current member of your former YMCA.
  • The amount of the join fee you paid when you joined.

If the join fee amount is equal or greater to the Louisville YMCA join fee, you will only be required to pay the first month's membership fee to get started.  If the join fee amount is less than the Louisville YMCA join fees, you will be asked to pay the difference between the two join fees and the first month's membership fee.
